It's All About the People!
I recently went to Boston and San Francisco to discover what the culture there was actually like. I have spent some time reflecting on what made it different and why Stockholm is the best place in the world right now.
We had an absolutely amazing trip together, meeting people from Harvard and MIT while in Cambridge. Getting a feeling for what I now call the American "Lund" (the Swedish university city), with a lack of a better analogy.
Then we flew across to SF, finally getting a look at this oasis that you had heard about. We went around to meet a lot of people at different events, visiting Google and Meta offices. The general feeling that I get is that the overall knowledge and experience across all roles feels more refined. Most people have an excellent idea of the problems in their industry, while being interested in similar industries that may be outside of their immediate expertise.
10 Years Into the Future
In general, it felt like we went 10 years into the future, using self-driving taxis and finally getting access to the new Meta Rayban glasses. It was very thrilling for a tech nerd. I uploaded a video of the live unboxing, footage, and some thoughts after using it.
The Main Takeaway
The main takeaway is that the people are shaping these places in my eyes. Stockholm has so much to deliver, and I actually kind of missed the Stockholm ecosystem in some ways.
We should be thankful for all of the amazing people and organizations in the Stockholm startup culture, and I want to highlight what an amazing job the team responsible for Founders House is doing. Seeing their work behind the scenes is very inspiring!
Show Bror Nordström, Elis Hodzic, Ella Appelholm, Sara Boras and Max Larsson all the love they deserve for the work they have done and are doing!
